Trump Rips Up the Government’s Agreement With Its Workers
Airport security screeners had a contract, signed just last year. On Friday, Trump trashed it.

While not much will come of it, I commend the Trump Administration for announcing that it will not honor the labor contract between the Feds and the TSA. This is odd for me, as I spent most of my 50 year work life negotiating, writing, and enforcing contracts. But this one is different.
First of all, employers have an intrinsic right to hire, fire, furlough, reward, and punish their employees. Government employees do not have any God-given rights in this regard, and their rights as employees can only be secured by legislation (assuming the legislation is Constitutional, which is a big assumption). No government employee contract can trump the law.
Second, the contract in question was intentionally cooked up by the Biden Administration because they knew that TSA would be a huge target for President Trump - a bloated agency within government...more on that below.
Third, TSA has outlived its usefulness - assuming it ever had any. It was created to protect American fliers from plane hijacking, a threat that has basically been eliminated through technology and public awareness. No passenger can gain access to the cockpit now, and anyone trying to hijack a plane would quickly be overcome and dismembered by the passengers on board. Further, this obligation SHOULD be carried out by the airlines who own the planes and serve the flying public. They would surely do a better job at a lower cost.
At this point, the main purpose of TSA is to employ tens of thousands of government workers who are overwhelmingly Democrat voters. Other than that, they contribute to the slow-but-sure devolution of air travel from something that was almost enjoyable to drudgery.
The linked article is useful for another reason. Rational readers can see the huge disconnect between the "intellectual Left" and rational thought. I wonder whether the pundit even realizes that the vast majority of the American flying public is cheering Trump's move in this matter.
