Actually, MASH would never create a character like Klinger today because he would be offensive to the Trans community.

Even the show realized the character was offensive, and later rewrote him to be a normal soldier who was a bit of a wheeler-dealer. Also, like most of that show, the gag got old really fast. It was a show that lasted 11 years set in a war that only lasted 3.
