I wonder if your Uncle hated rice as much as my dad did?

I really don't know.

But my father HATED canned Spam from his time in the Army.

If my mother had ever tried to serve the family spam for dinner.......I think he would have divorced her. ....

I got damn sick of Spam in the 1970's..

One guy tried to sign up for the RAF and got rejected, too important for the war effort as an electrician, another was sent to fight in Burma, ended up in Israel post war because the war had finished before he got there. The family took in kids from London, a V1 landed at the end of the road or something like that and another was in Coventry for some reason when it got hammered by the Luftwaffe.
