There was no special reason. SNL is saturday night live. I haven't watched it probably in about 25 years but as I was thinking of a name here I just happened to see the woman who played debbie downer and thought about it and took that name. The one I tried to use originally was taken at the time or some part of it. Besides the one I had originally was going to use I use it on many poker sites. No need for anyone to know my real identity. A few back then when I signed up used the same name on many sites and you could google them and they actually had a profile with name and city. Didn't think that was too smart. Most, except one has either left or changed their name here.

Honestly I picked it as a user id back in the 90s based on my favorite comic book at the time, and have just stuck with it since out of convenience.

Plus, it’s an obscure enough reference, that whenever I use it for a new website it’s never taken already, so I don’t have to add a bunch of nonsense at the end like most people do with their user id’s

I chose mine years ago, thinking I was mainly of Scotch-Irish descent, only to find out thru DNA testing that I'm primarily of German descent.
