Obviously you’ve not lived on a lake with an alligator as I have. Some of the mothers on the lake asked Wildlife authorities to come out and remove the alligator. An officer came out and convened everyone in the neighborhood and asked if anybody had been threatened or bitten by our alligator. To the person everybody said no.

So he told us that if the alligator had not been aggressive towards any of us then he was not going to remove it because if he removes our alligator there will be another one to take its place. He said they have an uncanny sense for moving to new territory when they discover that it is unoccupied by another alligator.

That alligators are not predatory and do not stalk humans, or even that they will generally avoid encounter with humans does not mean they are not dangerous animals. Do you consider bears to not be dangerous animals because as a rule they do not stalk human prey?

He thought it was very apropos to call it Alligator Alcatraz because he thinks that the alligators will act as guards and attack and eat any escaping prisoners.
