It sucks that they got overpaid and they should not have to pay interest, but they should have to pay it back. I mean can you imagine the NG from the other 49 saying if CA doesn't have to pay it back, they want what they got?

It wasn't that they got paid bonuses, they got OVERPAID bonuses. The all got bonuses regardless of what state they were from. The CA soldiers got overpaid. Either they have to pay back the amount they were overpaid or the other states nation guards should get the amount they were overpaid. Let's see THAT bill pass the GOP congress.

If they got something to which they are not entitled then they should pay it back, period.

The only exception I can remember is if the mistake is pointed out by the person receiving the benefit. Then maybe they don't pay it back, but everyone else would.
