Without the breakup we wouldn’t have many of the technologies we have today. As a monopoly, innovation was not job one, keeping control of the system and prices high was. When the breakup happened long distance calling prices fell dramatically. This shows that monopolies can have many of the same inefficiencies and lack of vision as command economies.

Neither Asiatic country did one single lick of work to the Canal we built. Thanks to our dear President Carter, America currently is faced with no way to stop a nuclear threat and easy access via the Panama Canal the Chinese can bring battleships to the Gulg of Mexico hastily, our Navy has to go a quarter trip through the most dangerous waters between the tip of South America and Antartica and through the Pacific trip north to engage Foreign hostile nations from entering the Canal my grandfather and his fellow Americans built over a century ago.
