That’s not particularly unusual when you’re working at the level of the President of the United States, or in most politics, or among high‑visibility celebrities. Many of them use ghostwriters. Ronald Reagan was one of the few who did not totally depend on a ghostwriter, as he wrote much of his autobiography himself.

The disadvantage is that a ghostwriter can sometimes get carried away, so you have to keep a tight rein on them.

In a 6–3 ruling on July 1, 2024, the Supreme Court established that U.S. presidents have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within their core constitutional powers and at least presumptive immunity for all official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.
The wiretapping would be legal since survielling foreign communications is for national security.
