What of the moral dilemma of human Shields? Does it bespeak enlightenment for one nation
to show restraint against an enemy that has no compunctions whatsoever about using innocent civilians as human Shields?
One might ask at this junction exactly what does a nation owe to the soldiers it sends out to carry the banner of freedom into the face of tyranny? Do we send them out with a half-assed philosophy requiring them to sacrifice themselves first when faced with such a moral dilemma? Is this the most effective way to run a military campaign?
Do we really believe a clever enemy, many of whom have absolutely no regard for human life will not use this to their advantage If they can count on it?
In that case our soldiers might as well shoot themselves so that they can at least control the circumstances of their own death.
I seriously doubt that the military recruitment personnel have any long discussions about this with the potential newbies they're trying to reel in.
It's probably one of those details they hope they never have to make any answers for.
