What makes the Chinese happy

So, you want hundreds of bridges? You think creep would only repair 18 of them after you denied he did promise to repair bridges. You did not call me a lar over the number, you said he made no promises.

You’re the one that lied about 100s of bridges, not me. Are you having a stroke?

When I worked in heavy construction, as a young man, there was a lot of construction going on. From buildings in San Francisco, to highways in Northern CA, work was fairly abundant. Rain would stop our pile driving jobs, and at times no contracts, but now one has a hard time seeing new jobs. Tell me if you see huge buildings or bridges in your area being constructed. China is very busy. See some of the bridtges they have lately built or are building now. They built cities not occupied ready for occupants.

Witness progress.

They're poised to become the world's #1 super power. They use their money to "Make China Great" while America sends $Billions to worthless beggars around the world. Insane.

A superpower, as an Army officer once told me, has to have a blue water navy. He said this to me 30 years ago and still China has no blue water navy.

I didn't say that they ARE the world's superpower -- yet -- but they're rapidly moving in that direction:

So in terms of power projection, the U.S. still looks more comfortable projecting force globally, while China seems focused on controlling and influencing its immediate neighborhood.

The real question isn’t whether China’s carriers rival U.S. ones today; maybe it’s how quickly experience, technology, and doctrine might narrow that gap over time.

A factor I don't take for granted is the fact that America is using up a bunch of weaponry or sending it to places like Ukraine and Israel while China is quietly and patiently building war ships, missiles, aircraft, space satellites, etc. at the same time. I also consider the fact that China's ally, North Korea, is also busy advancing their weapons of war.

I simply believe we'd be wise to keep a close eye on all of the powers that be.

China currently has the 3rd most powerful military on earth.

I personally have no doubt we are keeping a close eye on those powers. I have no doubt that China is working on advancing its navy. Perhaps it plans to invade Taiwan. Any American president best not break our promise to Taiwan.

The Whole Nine-Dash-Line Yards

China's neighbors aren't our neighbors. The Pentagony's intrusion over there is as aggressive as if China had bases all over the Caribbean. Like Russia, China is entitled to its own Monroe Doctrine.

China is entitled to nothing.

You are confusing posters. The Pentagon has not intruded on China.

China's navy is a joke. What do you think two barely functional carriers can do?

I've never personally witnessed Chinese vessels function at all so I'm not able to offer an honest analysis. You, on the other hand, are clearly an expert on the subject. Please offer up your eyewitness account.

Recent U.S. Navy ship fires have involved multiple vessels, with the most recent incident occurring on USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) in April 2026.

  • USS Zumwalt: A fire broke out on April 19, 2026, while the destroyer was pierside in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Three sailors sustained injuries; one was hospitalized and released, while the others received first aid. All three were in stable condition and expected to return to full duty. The cause and extent of damage are under investigation.
  • USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69): A fire occurred on April 16, 2026, at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia. Three sailors were injured, treated onboard, and have since returned to full duty.
  • USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78): In March 2026, while operating in the Red Sea, a fire originated in the ship’s main laundry space. It took over 30 hours to extinguish, injuring two sailors (with a third flown off for treatment) and forcing more than 600 crew members to lose their beds. The carrier resumed flight operations two days later but subsequently sailed to Crete for repairs.
  • USS New Orleans (LPD-18): In August 2025, a 12-hour fire occurred off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. Two sailors suffered minor injuries, and the cause remains under investigation.
