Factually it was Jewish terrorists like Haganah, Palmach, Irgun and the Stern gang, who murdered British and Arabs first.
That there were also actions by Palestinian-Arabs killing Jewish people - only upon the Balfour declaration, is certainly correct.
The Palestinian Arabs were never asked nor involved in any discussions when Britain simply decided to grant a Jewish homeland in Palestine, allocating areas to Jews, that had been settled by Palestinian-Arabs since 2000 years!!! That's how the whole shit got started.
AFTER the Israelis defeated the Arab legion in 1949 and had occupied Palestinian-Arab lands - militant Palestinian-Arab groups such as Fatah (founded in the early 50'ies) vowed to kill all the Jews or drive them out. Try to get your history straight.
During the beginning of the twentieth century Jewish settlers to what became Israel bought land form the Turkish land lords who owned it. Very few Palestinians owned the land they live on.

What does this have to do with the State of Israel? - nothing. If (as I "a German") have privately bought land in Colorado - so Colorado and the USA now belong to me? and to Germany or what?
See e.g. the Dutch settlers trading the land to build New Amsterdam for whatever, with the locals living there. As such New Amsterdam doesn't belong to Holland - unless the Indians unknowingly sold off their land to the Dutch Government. Since there was no Israel government before 1948 - previous Jewish owned land, therefore is simply private owned land that belongs to a Jewish person, with e.g. a Russian or German passport, or being recognized as a local resident of Palestine.
In the past 2000 years - the vast and absolute majority were Palestinian-Arabs. If someone came in as a conqueror such as the Mameluke's, Baghdad and Damask caliphates, Crusaders, Mongols, Ottomans, British and French - land ownership and therefore, "maybe" affected private land ownership was simply rearranged.
And this was clearly also taken into account - when the British allocated dozens of mini portions of land to be the Jewish Homeland !! New Jewish immigrants settling on land that either already belonged to Jewish people or due to a majority of Jews living at a certain place the British allocated additional Palestinian-Arab owned land, in which the Palestinian-Arabs never had a say. - Take a look onto the map I had already provided. and again.
It is absolutely obvious that the British NEVER intended to create an Israel. But a Palestine State, inhabited with Palestinian-Arabs and Jewish people. Who were supposed/expected to form and run a unified government and State. (factually an Utopia).
Ben-Gurion and the Zionist circles had recognized this Utopia already in the 20'ies, so had the Palestinian-Arabs, e.g. the Palestinian-Arab Mufti of Jerusalem. Only due to the holocaust, a huge -never expected/envisioned number of Jewish people - set out for this far too small and economically unsustainable patch-work home land. The British realized the problem of the thus rising violence - therefore factually stopping/forbidding Jewish immigrants to enter.
The Zionist Jews had a huge advantage over the Palestinian-Arabs - a united and internationally recognized Jewish council - something the Palestinian-Arabs never had - and maybe even more important, thousands of WW2 battle experienced Jews that had formerly served with the Allied armies.
Ben-Gurion naturally realized this Utopia and wanted an own Jewish State. That the Jewish patch-work territories could never form a realistic territorial nation that would be economically sustainable was also obvious to him. Therefore using his terror aka militia organizations to forcefully annex Palestinian-Arab lands or to simply intimidate them to leave. The attack by the Arab legion - aka Arab League only slowed down the Zionist ambitions. Their factual ambition since 1920 was always clear - drive out the Palestinian-Arabs if they are not willing to be ruled by a Jewish State.
NONE of the above aforementioned civilizations or nations displaced and drove of the Palestinian-Arabs from their lands - only the new State of Israel did that, until today. See the colonization/settlement and forceful displacement of the local population in the later USA. - exactly the same procedure.
So much for the past and present.
Present Fact and Problem:
There are around 7 million Jewish people and 2 million Palestinian-Arabs living in Israel and around 14 million Palestinian-Arabs that possess no sovereign homeland. And a lot of people on this Forum believe that both sides should simply keep on murdering and killing each other - especially Israelis killing Palestinian-Arabs. Very sad, utterly sad - at least to me.

First off all they weren't squatters - but "indigenous people" living on their own land, that was ruled/administered by the Ottoman Empire till the British took effective control of it in 1920. Neither did the Ottomans simpy requisition land that was owned by Jewish people. Just because the Union won the war, doesn't imply that they took over or confiscated private property from people having lived in the former Confederacy and allocated it to Yankees only.
Gaza wasn't Egyptian territory in 1920 - nor in 1948/9.
It did not belong to the Kingdom of Jordan in 1948/9 - but to British Palestine.
