In a way I agree with you. It was stupid for Chauvin to kneel on Floyd in violation of the policy. It was incredibly stupid to continue kneeling on him as he lost consciousness. It was catastrophically stupid to continue kneeling on him when no pulse could be found.

So yes. Stupidity was the cause.
