If the Copenhagen zoo is like the Maryland Zoo, then they let children feed the giraffes, as shown in this image. It puts a difficult burden on a parent, whose child may have gotten a chance in the past to feed Darius, to explain to the child why the animal was killed as it was and also why its corpse was not disposed of in a more discreet manner.
