If someone in that bar had been armed besides the gunman many of those people would be alive now.
You can't carry a weapon into a bar in CA genius.
California Concealed Carry Permit Information [Updated October 2018]
You cannot consume any alcoholic beverage or be in a place having a primary purpose of dispensing alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption while carrying concealed in California. You also cannot be under the influence of any medication or drug, whether prescribed or not while carrying concealed in California.
USA Carry always recommends never to carry a firearm while drinking alcohol or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
That law didn't stop the killer.
The dude still doesn't get it.
From the sounds of it, you guys sound like you wanted to have someone else in the bar with a gun (who would ALSO be breaking the law), in the hopes that they could be the good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun in a place where neither of them are allowed to have guns.
And, this dude wasn't exactly in the law abiding mood either, he used an extended magazine with a Glock 45.
Thousand Oaks killer used a Glock 21 .45-caliber handgun
"The weapon used in this horrific shooting was a Glock 21 .45-caliber handgun," Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean told reporters on Thursday morning, hours after the deadly shooting. "The handgun is designed to hold, in California, 10 rounds and one in the chamber."

It's believed to be the only weapon used Wednesday night by Long, a Marine infantry gunner who served in Afghanistan, officials said.
"The weapon did have an extended magazine on it," Dean said. "We do not know at this time how many rounds were actually in the weapon or how many rounds the magazine could actually hold because it's still being processed as part of the evidence."
