My ten year olds always got too sleepy to stay up that late, but they did often work side by side with us when that was feasible and they were happy to do it. Did they get paid? No. But they had a solid roof over their heads, nutritious food to eat, socially fashionable clothes, were given every opportunity they wanted in music, dance, Little League, Scouts, etc. etc. and had all the books they could read.
And both grew up with strong work ethic and a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability and have been far more financially successful than my husband and me.
I know many modern day parents don't believe in regimented bedtimes. I don't really approve but have no knowledge of it being specifically harmful to kids. We certainly allowed ours to be up past their bedtimes now and then.
Instead of jumping on parents for having their kids at work with them and allowing them to help, the 'woke' people might start looking at what they are forcing on kids: CRT, transgendering, allowing clandestine grooming, preventing them from learning any history, economics, etc. that doesn't fit the 'woke' agenda. That is REAL child abuse.
