Here are the thoughts of a former Federal prosecutor on the legal issues with Trump's actions in Los Angeles. Will Trump next turn his ICE thugs loose on the protests on June 14? And then claim he has to invoke Martial Law because of the reaction in most major cities in the US? Are you Trumpanzees going to support this move from Trump to become the first dictator to rule the US?

There isn't any. He needs the authority of Congress to use U.S. against U.S. and that has NOT been given. Nor has Governor Newsom requested such support. It is clear violation the Posse Comitatus Act as passed in 1878.

Completely legal.

The President, by using the militia or the armed forces, or both, or by any other means, shall take such measures as he considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy, if it—

...

(2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.

Probably legal but not well thought out.

Appears legal.

CHAPTER 15—INSURRECTION

§332. Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

No federal government building has burned or been ransacked and graffitied... so I'd say it was a smart move by Trump.... it's totally legal for Trump to protect his people and our buildings with national guard and the Marines if necessary...

I don't like Trump but he has the authority to call up the National Guard for shit like this.

I don't believe he has the authority to deploy Marines for riot control. . Active duty military can not be used to enforce domestic policy.

Posse Comitatus Act - Wikipedia

The Founding Fathers listed the duties of the federal government in two sentences..."to provide for the common defense" and "to promote the general welfare". What happens when a state government is unable or unwilling to provide for the common defense of it's citizens? The National Guard is a logical tool.

Not just logical, but lawful when state/local are derelict.

Stop pretending that law enforcement is being called out against American citizens they aren’t. Law enforcement is being used against invading criminals that come waving flag of a foreign country promising conquest.
