I have never ever been fishing or hunting or camping ??

I know these are vital to Christian upbringing in America

Would have been kind of cool to experience

Plus I cannot fix anything and most Christians excel in this

Finally , could have used some good azz whoopings which may have made me a better person

What makes you think hunting and fishing have to do with a Christian upbringing? That's a cultural thing.

I'm a Christian now, but I didn't grow up in a Christian home. So I can't answer the question, other than to say I wish I would've had parents who were followers of Christ and brought me up that way.

I didn't grow up Christian either but later as a church-going Christian I was able to observe the youth growing up in Christian families. While most were likely influenced by the faith and instruction of their parents they weren't 'converted' and were quite worldly. Most left as soon as they were of age. Few remained in the church. It's almost like small towns. The youth escape as soon as they are able. That isn't to say that they never return to religion as some surely do when they see the slide to hell that society outside of the church is.

My mother was catholic, my father was Jewish.

I was raised Catholic and went as far as confirmation before dropping out.

I remember being somewhat jealous of the Jewish kids because they got more days off from school than we did.

I went to my church camp once. Activities were tailored for young children. I and my brother were bored silly for two weeks. It was more like a prison camp for us. Mattresses were canvas bags stuffed with ground up corn cobs. Try sleeping on that. The camp had a huge, beautiful swimming pool but we only swam in it twice in the two weeks we were there. :(

All Christians who are even moderately intelligent are going to have to sooner or later deal with the fact that their bibles are not literally the true word of their god.

For an example of the crisis situation they will face. Our Ding is a living example. He now has come to the only possible conclusions of which he must accept on the bibles that are the basis of all his belefs, are no more than allegory with a lesson.

It has to come likewise for all Christians of moderate to higher intelligence.

My parents weren't very 'Christian' but did make sure I went to Church. And I had other wonderful Christian mentors growing up.

Hunting and fishing were not much of a component of that though pretty much the entire community engaged in both at some point. I could clean, load, fire pretty accurately a rifle or shotgun when I was ten.

But growing up in a Christian community before God was made unwelcome in so many places, we enjoyed wonderful Christian traditions, symbols, activities. The Church and the school were the center of most group social occasions, except for PTA, bridge clubs, and sporting events that pretty much everybody attended.

No child growing up even questioned respect for authority or respect for our elders. EVERY child gave up his/her seat to accommodate the adult, most especially older adults, entering the room. We were expected to say please and thank you whenever appropriate to do so and otherwise conduct ourselves properly.

We were blessed with student led prayers in classrooms or school assemblies or otherwise allowed a moment of silence to observe a tragedy for one of us or some other concern. There was always a prayer encouraging good sportsmanship and blessings for all in attendance at sporting events and prayer at all public functions. We were allowed to celebrate Christmas and Easter including cherished religious hymns as well as the secular stuff like Easter egg hunts and stuff. It was not unusual for a student to offer something from the Bible or something else from Church at show and tell.

And we got a world class education in our schools, were completely safe in our schools and community, all the kids had the run of the neighborhood without fear that something terrible could happen to them, people helped others in need and took care of each other. Parents saw to it that their kids got breakfast before they left for school, had a sack lunch or money for the cafeteria, had a hot meal on the table in the evening.

Kids were expected to do chores and be responsible and conduct ourselves appropriately and we all grew up as responsible citizens who appreciated character, self reliance, accountability, personal responsibility.

Blessed was the child to grow up in a Christian home, a Christian community.

What about Christian Azz whoppings ??? Tad more details if possible.

I can only tell you that I was born unto a couple who never should've married each other in the first place. My mom is Pentecostal, and my dad came from a Mormon family. He only went on to become a beater and a cheater and those two things were just for appetizers. He is guilty of other things, but they are things that I would rather not go into right now.

God bless you and my mom always!!!

God doesn't call the brightest into the church for that very reason (color me not too bright) .🤪 Why would God call people who believe science over him?

Some churches insist that some such couples remain together long after they should have divorced.

Most truthful information out there. :bow3: It doesn't lie about how 'great' we are.

A Christian upbringing translates to fishing and hunting? Where do they get this stuff?

My parents' divorce became final two months after their 23rd anniversary.

God bless you and my mom always!!!

P.S. To me, the marriage should've ended sooner.
