What is delaying the trial and execution of Ryan Wesley Routh?

But it punished him.

Law by itself does not prevent crime, but makes you pay for your crimes.

Skip the trial and have a public hanging.

I don't agree at all. The trial however can be expediated. If this Routh character contends he is innocent, I'd like to hear his explanation.

But I don't think he has anything to say for himself.

In this case, the charge is High Treason, as Routh and Crooks were attempting to deny the people's will and re-install their leader Sleepy Joe as President.

That's not just attempted murder and high treason, but Literal Insurrection, using the force of arms to force a change in government.

That isn't what happened at all in the cases of the babes who tried to clip Ford.

And John Hinkley was actually let go by an incompetent jury.
You don't know what those words mean.
There was no 'Assassination Attempt' 47 was supposedly hit with 7.62 NATO round. The 7.62 is high velocity round designed maim or kill. IF the 4-Deferment Draft Dodging had with that kind of round, it would have taken his off.
You need 90 days observation.

He didn't commit the crime in Texas. He walked across the DC border in violation of the Draconian Gun Control.

The fact is the law didn't stop him.

Which is why we need a federal gun law that applies to all 50 states.

But I have a very simple one. You sell a gun to a crazy person, you can be held civilly and criminally liable for anything he does with it.

You betcha the gun industry will be giving gun buyers rectal exams before they hand over a gun.

And of course, you want to be the arbiter of what a "crazy person" means.

If someone is actually crazy, we already have laws which allow them to be involuntarily committed to an Insane Asylum. In the nation's nut houses, the psychotics are already not allowed to have firearms.

BTW, if President Trump had characters like Routh condemned as "crazy people" and locked into rubber rooms wearing straight jackets, the libs would have a conniption.

After all, these people are their base.

Its been a year since he was foiled in his attempt to whack President Trump and change the US election of 2024.

It looks like they don't even want to give him the proper penalty of capital punishment that precedent demands. The 1757 case against Robert-Francois Damiens makes the penalty for such treason obvious

Another Secret Service failure to protect the perimeter. It was pure luck that an agent spotted his barrel poking out of the brush about to unload on President Trump. Yes, WTH is taking so long with this trial? :dunno:

Yes despite that, we keep having crazy people going on mass shootings.

Two things that happen after a mass shooting.

1) Everyone in that person's life knew he was nuts.
2) He still had absolutely no problem getting a gun.

Now, when I applied for my job, when I applied for my mortgage, when I sponsored my wife for residency, I was subjected to a thorough background check.

We should do that with anyone seeking to buy a gun.

That's because we don't trust Trump, given how often he lies about shit.

You're spot on about the situation in the real world.
Even if the persons whole family thinks he's koo-koo for coco puffs, it takes a judge or medical board to make a formal determination before they can take his guns, even just temporarily.

As it must be. Otherwise, the result will be a return to having "wayward" relatives tossed into nut houses.

We don't execute people for merely trying to assassinate the President.

As John Hinckley, Squeaky Fromme, and Sarah Jane Moore can all attest, as they are out and free in the world right now.

At most, this guy will get 20 years. Unless he's found mentally ill, in which case he'll got to a mental institution for that same amount of time.
Oops.

Life + 84 months.
