Were you alive in 1975? Or are you relying on the films of Sylvester Stallone? The US knew as early as the 1960s that it could not win in Vietnam. Yet national prestige and pride prevented it from withdrawing. Successive administrations continued to send thousands of young men to death, disability, and trauma because the US could not countenance defeat.

You could read up on the diplomacy that led to the Paris Peace Accords (signed in early 1973) that was coupled with Nixon's desire to get out of the war before his 1972 election.

The final evacuation in 1975 was, like that in Afghanistan 46 years later, chaotic

Legal or not, you dont see Americans partaking in that freedom. You DEFINITELY see it in the Middle East though.

How far across the Middle East have you travelled? Do you speak Arabic or any local dialects used in those regions? What connection do you have to various ME national government bodies relating to recording births and marriages taking place across the region?

Or are you just giving us your own prejudiced and uninformed opinions?
