Title of a new book by Dr. Joseph Ford Cotto.

Yes, Hart-Celler.

What Hubert H. Humphrey swore on the Senate floor would not alter our demographics. He was a useful idiot at best, complicit either way.

Now we have Biden's Horde of Illegals added in.

Never trust Democrats, ever. Both Hart and Celler were Dems as well.

With the immigration reform of 1965, the nation underwent a transformation, ushering in an era defined by widening divisions and searing resentment. Today, America stands as a fractured mosaic, its once-unified identity splintered into a myriad of factions held together by money and bureaucracy.

I wouldn’t call it a nightmare, but granted, it’s probably harder to get through it now than it was back in my day.

A bigger percentage of Republicans in Congress voted for it than Democrats did. Republicans have always been the enemy of White people.

Both Hart and Celler are on my list (and I'm not kidding) of graves that I want to piss on before I die!!!!

The American Dream is, "Getting out of America". Once Americans get a taste of Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand etc.. for any reasonable period of time, few go back to the USA.

Americans built a safe, prosperous society that had plenty for everyone. Life became very easy compared with how it has always been, and people forgot really hard times. They lost the capacity to appreciate how good they have it. Enemies profited by interjecting conflict.

It has been a nightmare for black folks, Dr King said his dream turned into a nightmare.

Tell us Excalibur what the nightmare part is.

Debt destroyed any "American Dream" that ever existed.

Debt has also driven widening economic inequality around the world accompanied by inevitable far-right (fascist) politics:

Briefing: The Link Between Inequality and the Far Right - Equality Trust

"Inequality’s role in driving the far right

"The far right has always been part of politics. The current global wave of far-right populist political movements began in the late 1970s, grew in the 1990s, and accelerated dramatically in the late 2000s. It has mirrored a sharp increase in inequality across developed economies, the globalisation of neoliberal economics, and the creation of an international super-rich. "

As an american born citizen who worked for 40 years here I don't consider anything a "dream" because when one works that long there's zero dreamy about it.

"The American dream" was never more than a general term. It turned into no "nightmare", Americans just became lazy due to such easy living. People in America today are so much better off than the vast majority of humans that have ever lived that they should all be celebrating. Instead, they dispute violently over ridiculous details.
