Zone1 What do you think of the Pope allowing people to bow to him and kiss his ring?

The Pope is only God's SERVANT; he is not a god of any sort.

Greg
One of the Pope's titles is The Servant of the Servants of God.

Another of his responsibilities is that of an Ambassador of God. Recall when President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, an Ambassador of his own country, showed up at the White House inappropriately dressed. Your earlier post nailed it. People are not responding to the Pope, but to whom he represents. The Pope is the holder of the keys (i.e. the Steward of the House while the king/master is away).

It gets tiresome when a respectful gesture to God Almighty, is first twisted and changed into something that can be sneered at by those who must take shots at Catholicism, Jesus' Church.

Your first Pope, Peter, told Cornelius to "stand up, I am but a man myself". Acts 10.

It sounds like Cornelius was honoring Peter as Peter--not Peter as the Ambassador/representative of Christ. The issue with the Pope is that non-Catholics try portray him as merely a man accepting accolades due him. Catholics see a pope as the steward Christ appointed to be the keeper of the keys in his absence. A steward (keeper of the keys) serves in many roles, many capacities, knowing full-well he is not the Master.

Just a tradition showing respect to the OFFICE of the Papacy; Christ's Vicar.

Kissing the pope's ring is a centuries-old sign of respect and obedience to the Pope's office, which is represented by the ring, known as the Ring of the Fisherman. While Pope Francis sometimes allows the gesture, he generally discourages it, preferring to avoid the appearance of clericalism and the risk of spreading germs, a stance that has led to viral videos showing his hand being withdrawn from those attempting to kiss it.

Good for him.

More like you seek conflict because there is no life in you and you are not at peace.

Highlighting the differences between Christ and the supposed "Vicar of Christ" is good, not bad. We must seek and share truth.

"Forgive me father, for I have sinned"
1. Are those the words most widely used?
2. Is the priest acting in his own persona, or the persona of Christ?
3. In the Catholic priesthood, the authority to act in ministerial services in Christ's name (the persona of Christ) comes from whom?
4. Which Sacrament is the one a priest is acting in the persona of Christ when he says, "I absolve you..." In whose name is the penitent absolved?
5. Most commonly a confession begins with, "Bless me father, for I have sinned...."
6. "Forgive me father," means the penitent fully understands he is speaking to a priest acting in the persona of Christ.

I am guessing the church you attend dismissed the idea that ordination of your ministers needed to be traced back to Christ, himself? Therefore, you have no Sacrament of Reconciliation? Everyone just does this him/herself in one's own head, mind, or heart?

Summarizing: The priest does not forgive sins. In the persona of Christ he absolves and repeats Christ's words, "Your sins are forgiven." A little study, and you could have learned this before you posted in ignorance.

The Pope is supposed to be the "Vicar of Christ" on Earth. Does it appear that the Pope is following the example of Christ?

Matthew 23:9-12
9 And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. 10 Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. 11 The greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.View attachment 1159073
Are you catholic? Otherwise why do you care?

I’ve seen Protestants do ridiculous fake shit like speak in “tongues”

Fake, fake, fake-ity fake

I dislike it when Christian church leaders contradict the teachings of Christ. Jesus called on church leaders to be humble and to be a servant to others. One can't claim to be a follower of Christ and then blatantly violate his commandments.

Is your loyalty to Christ or the Catholic organization?
