They have judged their opponent's life and livelihood to be forfeit because they oppose the wishes and desires
that make up the Left's dream of a utopian heaven on Earth. Progressives (Communists by another name) see any opposition as a threat to their plan for Mankind's future. They are very dangerous people as we have just seen and a domestic threat to the nation.

I am a Democrat. I have never called my opponents Nazis, bigots, or fascists. None of the Democrats I know have done that either. So, I cannot answer the original poster's questions. There are some Democrats who do that. There are some Republicans who call their opponents Communists and Marxists. In either case they are resorting to name calling. Name calling is the lowest form of discourse.

I am ambivalent about politics. I agree with the Republicans on the issues of crime, race, and immigration. I agree with the Democrats on the issues of taxing, spending, and the environment. Because the latter issues are more important to me, I vote Democrat. I like ambivalence. It prevents fanaticism. I try to recognize the humanity of those with whom I disagree politically. I am usually successful.

If those who oppose abortion were consistently pro life, they would support universal health coverage. That would reduce infant mortality and increase life expectancy. Universal health coverage (also known as socialized medicine) has those effects in countries that have it.
