The Ukraine is the bread basket of Europe. It would be wise to want easier trade with them. The EU is mainly a trade block that treats all members as “internal” as if they were almost domestic. If outside the EU, trade to one EU country has to be negotiated through the EU.

Of course it would be better if the EU was dissolved. But the reality is most of Europe is in it.
