Teachers are paid to create an environment where children trust their teachers over their parents and then gradually widen the breach until the children's main attachment is to the state. At that point, the woke state religion is introduced to them in increasingly myriad ways until they treat any information they receive that hasn't been sanctioned by the state as bogus.

I can only speak for my school system.
They are paid to teach. Which involves instruction, classroom management, compliance with such things as IEP's, after hours lesson planning and grading.
How much they are paid is a function of two criteria:
- Years of credible service,
- Degree level held.
Credible service is full years of completed teaching experience.
Degree level changes the "lane" (Bachelors, Masters, Masters + 30, Education Specialist, and Doctorate).

So, those laws the teachers unions keep pressing for to allow them to encourage children to keep the secrets between teachers and children away from parents is just a figment of my imagination? How about statements from the current administration in regards to the state deciding everything about what children are exposed to and not parents - am I making that up? How about the current state of affairs where parents are labeled TERRORISTS if they dare to try to protect their children? Is that "bullshit"?

Very few teachers run the unions, serve on school boards, or are in "the current administration." Put away the broad brush.

Their ability to convey what they know--iow, to teach. It is a separate skill and knowledge set than just knowing the material.

Many are paid based on how well they teach. Education isn't a simple "this teacher is 56% effective", you can't quantify how good a teacher is. Even if one teacher gets good grades for students, they might not be a good teacher. I knew a teacher who was "outstanding" and his kids knew nothing of the subject he was teaching. But they still got good grades.

If you have a teacher who teaches kids how to pass an exam, has this teacher done their job well or not?
Surely the point of teaching kids is to actually teach them something that will give them skills in the future, rather than just a certificate.
