My favorites include "Closer To The Heart", "The Trees", "La Via Strangiatto", "The Spirit Of Radio", "Tom Sawyer", "Subdivisions" and "Red Barchetta".
Rush! The band so many love to hate! For the longest time, seen as a Wannabe Supergroup. Yet they only had three people, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. And the bassist had to sub out as part time vocalist and occasional keyboardist.
How then did they endear themselves so much to so many people? Maybe because they were often smoking hot. I have several albums by Rush, but I think the best is 'All The World's A Stage.' On it are some of their best versions of their best songs.
My absolute favorite was "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" version as done on that album, followed by the '2112' version done on the same album. The original 2112 version as done on the original 2112 album was great too.
Anther favorite version is the Cygnus X-1 version they did on the R30 Farewell Tour, how they faded out of the previous song into Cygnus was fabulous.
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing I have the following albums of theirs (most on original LP, a few on CD):
- Rush
- Fly By Night
- Caress of Steel
- 2112
- Farewell to Kings
- Hemispheres
- Permanent Waves
- (Had Snakes & Arrows LP, think I returned it)
- All The World's A Stage
- R30 (possibly edited copy of it).
I saw Rush live about 20 years ago in one of their last concerts done at the same venue where they played their first concert ever in the USA.
