I certainly get Trump's motivations. In his mind, he's never done anything wrong, and anyone who holds him accountable for anything is mean and nasty and must pay the price. That's just standard psychosis and immature narcissism.

But the joy the MAGA people get from this revenge and carnage is different. It appears that, in their minds, they've been brutally tortured for a long time and are taking great pleasure in watching their captors suffer, convinced that the world is being cleansed while it's all burning down around them. Yet, as cruel and terrible as Trump has been and will undoubtedly continue to be, what's even worse is the fact that so many millions of Americans embrace his ideology, believing, as the antagonist Gordon Gekko once said that greed is good, and that our first and only priority is to look out for ourselves.
