"...threw the money at both the military and at increasing the living status of the populace to the point that the Germans had a higher living standard than those in the US right up until the war ended"No one is forcing us to do anything other than those in power now.
So who is in power now again?
The Left have had over a century of experience in infiltrating organizations and governments and taking them over.
Their ability to access large amounts of money by various means and appealing to man's base nature of greed to go along with their plans coupled with threats real and imagined to do their bidding has produced what we see today.
The Nazi regime were experts at this. Hitler was terrified of a revolt at home if they went to war because people protested during the First World War. So what he did was spend more money than revenue coming in. In fact, the amount of money being printed out of thin air was so concerning that Hitler forbade them from passing a budget as it was estimated that Germany at one point either needed to conquer the world or go flat broke. Then they rounded up the Jews and took their money, taxed the top 4% heavily, and then threw the money at both the military and at increasing the living status of the populace to the point that the Germans had a higher living standard than those in the US right up until the war ended.
Today, the modern day Leftists does pretty much the same. Every US President for a very long time, except for Trump had been at war somewhere in the world. In fact, the US has troops in over 80 countries in the world today, something Hitler could only dream about. They also spend more than revenue coming in, they to have made abortion a billion dollar industry raking in trillions via the abortions, they also tax heavily the top 1%, and they throw endless money at welfare in the US as well.
Maynard Keynes, FDR's economic advisor, said before the war that Hitler proved all of his economic theories to be true before he had time to publish them and even added that the only way to best implement FDR"s vision was perhaps a tyranny like the one in Germany.
History keeps repeating itself.
That's a bit off in terms of chronology. The standard of living in Germany became drastically reduced as the war got rolling and progressively worse as it carried on, but the decline really started before the war even started, and had become dismal for most well before the end. Most notably, in addition to the currency inflation you noted, Hitler had also imposed price controls in 1937, and strict food rationing in 1939, both before the start of the war (Germany remained on strict food rations and price controls throughout the war and under the Allied Control Authority, until Ludwig Ehrhard lifted them in 1948). The supply shortages caused by the price controls and currency inflation were only compounded as the war ravaged on, with their industry sector being progressively decimated as critical infrastructure was destroyed and the number of able-bodied citizens sharply declined in many major industry centers (i.e., Cologne's population alone dropped by over 90% due to the Allied (RAF) bombing raids from 1940-42, etc).
The conscription of almost all able bodied men to fight in the war (and their consequent death) also had a detrimental effect on the standard of living in Germany very early into the war. While it's true that the removal of able-bodied men from the workforce adversely affected many countries during the war, it hit Germany harder than the U.S., for example. Whereas U.S. cities and infrastructure were insulated from targeted and collateral destruction during the war (excepting Pearl Harbor), and U.S. industry was greatly aided by substitute workforces that helped to stabilize the standard of living, the same could not be said of Germany. Even in areas where people began growing their own food and bartering in an effort to offset the effects of rations and currency devaluation, they often ended up being driven out by occupying armies (i.e., the Soviets in Eastern Provinces) and living a miserable quality of life in makeshift shanty towns.
