Now that the elections of the senate are almost over, looks like I got it wrong. When LA has their runoff next month, they will likely elect another republican so the final number looks like it will be 52-48. Of course the 48 includes the 2 so called independents that caucus with the commiecrats.

I think you are looking at numbers and not realities.

The Senate is 100 people who think they ought to be President. When Trump's approval ratings start to go South, you are going to see all these guys strike 'Independent" stances, positioning themselves for 2020.
