We make the assumption that character is a top priority. That decency counts. You don't sell your soul just to get what you want. And you certainly don't sell out your religion to get what you want.

Well, I think we were wrong about that. It seems that 51% of the voting electorate doesn't place as high a priority on character as the other 49%. For the minority, winning is not worth selling your soul, there is a red line, and we assumed it was pretty much that way across the board. But now we know, that's just not the case in America.
