Perhaps both sides can come to a softer way of viewing one another. People of faith believe God gave us free will, and that he also gave us guidelines to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life--despite whatever the uniqueness of one's own being has served up. The sole purpose (biologically speaking) for the sex organs is for a male and female to come together for the purpose of creating new life. The organs themselves serve no other purpose. (Think in terms that the sole purpose of the eye is to see; the ear to hear.)
In older, less populated times, people were open to this possibility when engaging in sex. I am speaking of heterosexuals next: Modern times, heavily populated, yay birth control and yay abortion--no children needed or wanted. Let's make the purpose of sex recreational! Since sex is now looked at as recreational, truly what is wrong with having sex with whomever (or even whatever) provides that recreation...recreation now being the purpose of sex.
Here everyone is painted with the same brush: If one is not at least open for the true purpose of the sex organs to create new life, heterosexuals having sex armed with birth control and thoughts of abortion should birth control fail--are in the same boat of recreational sex as homosexuals, pedophiles, masturbators, etc. However God is looking at modern man's outlook of sex as purely for recreation, most heterosexuals are now shoulder-to-shoulder with homosexuals--and they should look to themselves. They started it.
