We need to fix the *lazy teenager* problem

Why do you want child labor? They're supposed to be getting an education to pursue careers in highly competitive advanced fields.
They want a Hitler er Trump Youth Groups to be in shape and ready for the tyranny of Trump.

Someone had a great idea back in the sixties. It was ruined by lazy teenagers. We need to get it right this time. This program should be revived and this time done right.

---Can homegrown teens replace immigrant farm labor?---

Theorists Have Contempt for Getting the Right People and Good Conditions

Reminds me of Alexander Hamilton. He was right about America's need for industrialization, but then he let it all be sweatshops. The same goes for his standing military, which the anti-draft Chickenhawks back then pounced on when it turned out to be shanghaiing the dregs of the cities.

Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Child labor is a form of education. We never should have made stupid child labor laws.

Working never hurt anyone in my family. I was proud when I started doing chores at home, like weeding the garden and ironing hankies and aprons, and then drying dishes and folding towels. It gave me REAL pride.

Dad picked cotton when he was eight. Thats why he made me go to school.

Pay the teens 3x what the migrants were doing the jobs for or no deal. Another cheapskate idea combined with the "nobody wants to work anymore" lying crowd.

Are you ignorant posters parents? Keep your kids in school as long as you can to get them the best job you can. No way you want to send your kids into the strawberry fields to pick for backbreaking low wage work. Or maybe you do? What a bunch of tools.

One of the biggest lies we hear, "We need immigrants to do the work WE don't want to do", while at the same time bitching about unemployment, massive amounts of people on some type of gov't aid, etc.,

It reminds me of the story from earlier this year when you guys torpedoed USAID. Millions of dollars in already-bought goods rotted in warehouses and on docks. All we heard from the right on that matter was, “Good, it may go to Americans instead of foreigners.” Yeah...thats called welfare. Something the right is also against but I suppose the difference is that if you’re spending money to feed starving kids in Africa, the right is extreme batshit crazy...if you’re spending money to feed starving kids in Albany, the right is only batshit crazy.

On the surface, there is nothing wrong with jobs programs for the youth in the nation. The CCC built some of the iconic bridges and structures in our nation. We could certainly use some improvements in our infrastructure. There is no reason why we couldn’t mobilize that again without the desperation and fear of “do it or die”. Of course, this will mean that contracts to likely politically connected contractors will have to be cancelled. Anyone want to take bets on how thats going to go over in Conservistan?

However it would probably be a good idea to teach the kids something that is marketable instead of hoping they make strawberry picking a career.

Sad to see those are the types of jobs we are producing

Those types of jobs have been part of human history since..... human history.
Farming, agriculture, laborers, is something bad? My first job wasn't something I was super thrilled to be doing, but I did it. I didn't ***** because I wasn't making the same amount as the owner or the managers. I was a non-skilled, low level, just out high school going to college student who needed a part time job.

The narrative today that no skills, no education, no certifications should warrant, without merit, the same reward as those that have an education, have skills and experience, have professional certifications is what is wrong with America.

Thats alot different than having them pick veggies. We all did that stuff and i would bet alot of teens today still do that. We can easily find adults to pick veggies for a good wage, dont you think? If weabecome reliant on kids to supplement the workforce theres something wrong, bigly.

It prepared me for picking strawberries ans babysitting as a teenager, which prepared me for a real minimum wage job in my late teens, which prepared me for a better paying para-professional job in my twenties.

Which all adds up to, if you don't want to pick veggies as an adult, stay in school and progress to a trade.
