As government should only be in a position of public service and not financial enrichment, every member of congress shall henceforth and in perpetuity receive no more compensation in any form and from any other source during the tenure of their term than a yearly salary equal to the annual median income of the citizens of the state that they represent.

I think your idea has merit, but what you are neglecting are the payoffs that the politicians receive after they leave office. B. Hussein O is raking it in big time since he abdicated in 2017,

Put it on a petition site if we get enough signatures find a congressman to back it and lets see what happens. I like the Idea.

How about this. No member of the congress, executive or courts should be compensated at a rate higher than the last job held before election or the salary of the position--whichever is LOWER. In other words, you don't get a raise to serve in the position.

I can get behind that.

Gotta add a lifetime prohibition on lobbying and such after their term too.

By God why didn't the brilliant founders know to do that?

Make the states pay their salaries!

And with the internet, they can work from their home districts, and be more responsive to their constituents.

Ridiculous, of course.
