Those who say "we need to follow the one we got" should realize a Constitution that isn't enforced perhaps means it needs better enforcement provisions.

If there is no desire to enforce it, new or old, it will not be enforced.

Why do you think the schools teach the things they teach?

Perhaps with a new Constitution there will be the desire to enforce it.

Dont know what your getting at with the schools teach comment.

Of course not.
The notion is ignorant idiocy.
That current Constitutional jurisprudence conflicts with your errant conservative dogma of hate and ignorance is no reason for a 'new constitution.'

I dont consider myself a conservative tho I am on some issues I suppose.

If your going to call the notion ignorant idiocy perhaps you should have some cogent arguments.

The current trend is to do what feels right. Not what IS right, but what feels right. You hear it all the time.

What kind of society do we want to be....

This is nothing more than code for, I want to do this and I don't care if it hurts more than it helps. I want it.

People are being taught in our schools that the Constitution is obsolete, even though it is the most relevant document in the world today. They are being taught that it is better to do what we feel than to think things through and make choices that may not seem compassionate, but will server the greater good.

If you do not desire to enforce the law of the land, then any document that purports to be the law, is worthless. Because there is no desire to enforce it.

New or old.

Absolutely not. Liberals would destroy freedom in this country.

The only people looking to rewrite the constitution are those who despise due process, the inability to put rights up for a vote and judicial review, mostly social conservatives who feel the world is a sinful jail and that they should be warden.

It's long overdue for a serious update. The Founders would have thought so as well. It was written on paper not carved in stone.

Hence the reason they gave us a process to amend it, but these days it's just easier for politicians to pass what ever laws they want, Constitutional or not, and make sure the president appoints judges who will go along with it and change the law by judicial fiat.

The last time I checked we still had a way to decide whether something was or wasn't constitutional eh?

More modern constitutions have basic rights clearly enshrined in the text rather than in amendments other than that a constitution is but a framework and is meaningless without an engaged citizenry and a fairly elected government devoted to those rights. I see no one serious about a rewrite that is not trying to circumvent equal protection.

The Constitution is a work of art in the rhetoric of republicanism. The institution is fine, it's those that are in govt. which are corrupting the system, all in the name of money and power...

We need to remove education from government and unions. That's the problem, not the constitution.

Look at the leaders of today and ask yourself do you really want or trust them to rewrite the Constitution. Call it my cynical nature when it comes to our current leaders but I feel pretty safe in saying any rewrite would give more power and control to the government and less to the individual.

They wouldn't be the ones I'd have rewrite it...
