IMHO, the present day is REALLY stupid, but the future may or may not be. It depends on the decisions made now, you don't want to curtail innovation and free enterprise cuz if you do then stupid can last a long time and maybe degenerate into VERY sad and bad. Those who want bigger gov't and more socialist policies if not socialism itself may not realize that if you go that route then you have by default disincentivized the economic growth and vitality of the private sector, which is where innovation comes from.
