If the worst happens economically, the worst parts of the nation will be cities. Mostly Progressive cities. The checks and benefits run out or are lowered there are many people used to that. They will go to those who still have things expanding outward to the city limits and then suburbs. There will be a slight/moderate increase in defense there. When semi-rural and rural areas are encroached on it will be a shooting gallery as the residents in those areas will be picking the locusts out like a carnival gun range. When the bodies mount up, they will bulldoze them forming newer hills and/or burn them. Make no mistake, there will be suffering all over. Saving resources will keep the other resources paying out.
