Very interesting. This section of the Congressionally-passed law is precisely the kind of exception to the Posse Comitatus Act which is legally required in order for the military to act as domestic law enforcement.
Such authority, by law, is not perpetual. But it is probable that it will last long enough to take back the city from the lawless ones ruining the city.
And it is, after all, only our republic’s CAPITAL.

DC was created by the Constitution. Its wouldnt be like allowing a new state in the US.
And even if they carved out a new state, it would require the states affected to agree.
