There is nothing broken about a trade deficit. We all have trade deficits, you have one with your grocery store, you give them cash and all they ever give you is stuff.

A trade deficit merely means that the people of this country have freely chosen to buy things from other countries. And you wish to curtil that freedom.

I am talking about overall trade deficit. This is debt.

And if you have a debt of millions of dollars, that's a problem. You merely asserting that it isn't so when we all know the consequences is of course nonsense.

The national debt and the trade deficit are two distinct things that have very little correlation with each other.

The national debt is not due to a lack of revenue, but due to overspending. Nothing to do with the trade deficit will fix overspending.

The trade deficit is real debt to external nations, through which parties openly hostile to freedom buy up this country. Again, you merely asserting that there isn't debt doesn't make it so.

And how many washers or dryers does one buy in a lifetime? I'm pushing 60 and perhaps I owned about four different sets. The set I have now I've owned for 15 years and have no plans on replacing it. Older Maytag's that are working just fine.

I'm not sure what happens when they get it and so I try not to leave it even when deserved, but it seems harsh.

Of course, they expect payment in return, payment does not equal debt, unless you live your whole life in debt.

I just went grocery shopping and both stores expected something in return for what I was taking out of their store, they expected money. And they got money and there was no debt involved, just a transaction. That is the way international trade works as well.

You keep claiming that I support free riding, but you are the one that wants the government to prop up and give a free ride to the industries that cannot compete with the rest of the world...you are the free rider not me.

As a libertarian, I want the liberty to make that choice for myself and not have the government punish me with higher prices doing so. Nope, just needed food in the house. 4 teenage boys have pretty much taken up permanent residence in my basement this summer ,and those boys are like locust when they get hungry.

So I went to the store and I increased my trade deficit with both stores, to this day all they ever give me is stuff in exchange for my money...that is a 100% trade deficit that i have with them.
