Or just good fun....does comedy have any place in helping improve racial relations. Can we not laugh at each other's foibles or are we supposed to be so uptight about offending others?

By today’s standards, definitely racist!

Pancakes can also be racist.

Where are the cartoons equally insulting toward white folks, based solely on their stereotypical looks and actions?
You throw a fit when slavery is even mentioned, snowflake.

Is racism a artifical construct designed to tear America apart.....what has all these years of harping on the red herring of racism really accomplished other to make people hate each other even more? As a nation we are more polarized than at any time in our history....our society is unravelling at a increasing pace and the obsession with racism....is a huge, huge cause of this.

Clearly the cartoon was a parody, and at the time stereotyping was acceptable to more people, all of the time. WW II saw a great deal of this, using the Japanese as scapegoats; intelligent people likely wondered why the Germans were not so graphically portrayed.

Today the cartoon is clearly racist, to all but the most toxic and insecure members of American society. Is "Springtime for Hitler", racist?

We have religion for that.

No racism is what has been enforced by whites in America through law and policy. It's more than insulting cartons. But you cowards are too scared to discuss court decisions, laws and federal policy, so you want to pretend it's only about words and cartoons.
