late night, late 60's...

in the wee hours, I'd be listening to Clyde Clifford's radio program "Beeker Street"...

on "The Mighty Ten-Ninety, KAAY, Little Rock"...

high-powered clear-channel AM radio station back then...

nearly as powerful as anything coming outta Mexico...

pioneered the broadcasting of underground music several years before FM arrived...

eta: I can still remember the warm wonderful smell of my tube-filled Arvin table-top radio...

as I nodded off to the best of what qualified as late-60's alt rock...

first time I ever heard Zep was from a Beeker Street broadcast 45 years ago...

my reaction...? **** THE BULLSHIT...! I'VE SEEN GOD...! I KNOW WHERE I WANNA GO 'N WHAT I GOTTA DO...!

'course, my path has admittedly been a bit bumpy since then... but I wouldn't change a thing... :-)

Ah the smell of over-heated transistors.

yep... 'cept they weren't transistors... they were pre-transistor tubes...

mebbe you remember how the bulbs glowed if you happened to take the back off and look inside the radio... :-)

'nother mind-**** tune from the ol' KAAY days...

might never have heard of these guys if it hadn't been for Clyde Clifford & KAAY...

'nother group for which I gotta give credit to Clyde Clifford for introducing me to...
