Walmart's Philosophy of Screwing Workers

These marxist peons obsession with walmart is comical...............

Not liking WalMart's treatment of employees, ah, "associates," makes one a Marxist? Yours is a wide tent!

Actrually, no.

What makes one a marxist is believing that an employee MUST stay with an employer no matter how unhappy such em,ployee may be.

In a free world?

One can quit.

Why do you think those workers cant simply quit? Do you think like a marxist?

If that's what you need. Nothing will convince you otherwise.

What I don't like about Walmart is the employees don't seem to know shit about what their selling. I tried to buy a piece of computer equipment a few days ago. The damn thing was locked in a glass case. When I finally found and employee, she couldn't tell me what it cost or anything about it; she couldn't even find the key to open the cabinet and acted like I was being a nuisance. I went across the street to Target found the item with no problem and the clerk answered all my questions so I bought it.

I've noticed this type of problem at Walmart for some time. They must pay their employees practically nothing and certainly don't train them.

I have had friends who worked in the electronics section of Wal-Mart who were fairly knowledgeable, but only because of their own interest in the products. There was no training involved, and they were barely making minimum wage. In my opinion, better customer service alone would improve their stores alot. The problem is that employers get what they pay for. When you are paying an employee $8 an hour you can't expect to have the cream of the crop working for you. Wal-Mart is like the McDonalds of the retail world.

Surely the country needs government run, non-profit, retail establishments with price caps, highly paid entry level unionized civil servants, competition protections, and taxpayer subsidies to cover the overwhelming losses.............

For the common good.............lol

That is probably not too far off the mark of the thinking behind the denigration of large corporations.

Rather than allow WalMart to experience failure which would then cause Walmart to change its ways or die, some people believe every problem demands a government "solution" forced on it.
I shop at WalMart, both store and online, mainly because WalMart always has what I'm looking for. If WalMart raised its prices to accommodate a pay raise for its employees I would still shop there.

Re: government intervention in such matters: It must be kept in mind that our Constitution was framed at a time when the intricacy and phenomenal potential of the new Nation's evolving economy was impossible to predict. If the Framers were able to anticipate the kind of massive financial success, and the ways in which vast fortunes could be accumulated via maneuvering to favor a few at the expense of the many, we may rest assured those noble statesmen, those enemies of aristocracy, would have included provisions to ensure equitable distribution of the Nation's bounty.

If you disagree, and if you haven't already viewed the video, Inside Job, which is accessible FREE via the URL in my signature line, I urge you to watch it. If you do I'm sure you'll agree the protective regulations which had been in place to guard against the schemes which nearly collapsed our economy and have cast millions of our countrymen into poverty should have been protected by indelible federal law against the de-regulation which removed them.

Briefly stated, what has been done to our economy should be subject to criminal prosecution. So it clearly is necessary for Government to intervene in matters of economic exploitation and misfeasance.

You could actually care less, something tells me. Your whole beef is because they have kept the unions out.

What these idiots don't know is that target is non union and only 18% of Costco's are union.

Both fight to keep unions away.

actually their pay is comparable to Target.

There isn't, of course. In fact, that's what makes this "nobody's making them work there argument" a load of horsehit. In many towns, people really don't have a choice.

The stock market and the US economy is booming, but unfortunately now with middle class workers involved.

Then you oughta be happy that the middle class has been emasculated and jobs that don't pay shit are keeping people on government assistance. You liberals!

And if Walmart wasn't there, would they have as many jobs available with much higher pay that could be sustained?

Hey that's a good idea. Have SS name changed to socialist security. Maybe some of these republican voting hayseeds will understand what socialism and democrats have done for them as opposed to what republicans have done for them, zilch nada zero.

New Walmart brings hundreds of jobs to Elk Grove | Sacramento News - KCRA Home
The store employs 265 new associates, making Walmart one of the largest employers in the city.

The average wage at Walmart for a full-time hourly employee is about $13 per hour in California.

Walmart says more than 75 percent of the company's managers began their Walmart careers as hourly associates, including the new store's manager, Jorge Sabido.

Most of the new employees have already been hired, but a handful of positions are still open for people to apply.

And no, Costco does NOT have higher prices. I know from having been in both stores. Try and find a West Bend full size electric skillet at Walmart for $15 like I bought at Costco.

Costco keeps around a 3% operating margin, which means for every dollar in sales they get 3 cents of profit before things like interest and taxes.

Wal-mart’s operating margin is around 6%, and Target’s is almost 8%.

And then you also have you and I paying to subsidize the Walmart workforce.....

Wal-Mart’s intentionally low wages and lack of covered benefits cost taxpayers over $1.02 BILLION a year in healthcare costs.

• Wal-Mart’s intentionally low wages cost taxpayers as much as $225 MILLION in free and reduced price lunches for school-age children.

• Wal-Mart’s intentionally low wages cost taxpayers over $780 MILLION in tax deductions for low-income families.

$2.66 billion in food stamps and tax benefits plus $1.02 billion in healthcare costs, plus $225 million in free school lunches and $780 million in tax deductions a year which comes to a total of $ 4.685 billion dollars a year comes out of Our Pockets!

Any idiot can make a profit and undercut the competition in prices with a $4.685 Billion a year Tax Payer funded cash advantage.

Just how the Hell can Costco make more money than Sam’s Club ( Sam’s Club is owned by Walmart ) per square foot of retail space and have lower labor costs when Costco pays its workers $17 dollars an hour? Just what in hell is Walmart doing wrong?

http://my.firedoglake.com/thingscomeundone/2012/08/10/wallmart-vs-costco/

Beats me what the hell Walmart is doing wrong if they're failing while we help pay their workers for them through tax dollars.

since Target wages are comparable to Walmart, why not diss on them? Always seems to be the company that keeps the unions away that are dissed on. Coincidence? We all know the answer to that...

Edit - seems Target has been successful lately keeping the unions out as well. Seems ,according to what I can find it has to do with the size of Walmart as to why they are the most targetted by unions. Have alot more to gain with them...

You do know when S.S. started it was supposed to be voluntary and the average age of death in America was around 65 years old right? I dont want S.S. just like I dont want obama care.

In this economy, it's almost trendy to shop at WalMart and taboo to be seen going into a Dollar Store.

I don't give a shit about trends. We buy crap at the dollar store when the same crap costs more at Walmart. I don't trade with Target Stores because they pander to PETA and the HSUS, and they're anti-gun from what I've read. Even if they aren't the one time I went in there in search of some ammo, the sporting goods clerk gave me an attitude when I asked where the ammo was. I never went back in.

I don't want a COSTCO membership, and they're too far away even if I did. Walmart is alright by me.

Target is also actively anti-union, they're just doing a better job of running their stores in general.

I'll have to check but I'm pretty sure you're wrong about the voluntary payments. I do know that I've been paying since age 16, even paid when I was in the Navy. It's all been taken out automatically, I had nothing to say about it which is why I call it socialist security but I'm all for it. Obamacare is nothing but a mandate to purchase health insurance from a private corporation. Kinda puts the lie to Obama being a socialist or even a liberal.
