It is just a bit odd that Donald Trump has gone from assuring us first that we weren't going to feel any negative effects on the economy as a result of his tariffs, to telling us yes, we'll probably hurt a bit but we should just suck it up for the good of the collective and just plan on buying the kids fewer toys this Christmas.
That's just not the type of thing a free market capitalist says.
Then he declared he wanted to set price caps on prescription drugs.
Hmmm.......
OK Comrade, I like the sound of that one.
Then he pressured Bezos not to inform people how much cost the tariff tax would be adding to their Amazon purchases, and Amazon complied.
That sounds an awful lot like big government exerting it's influence on private business and determining how it operates.
And also why would Trump want Amazon to hide the cost of his Tariffs from us?
Does he think we just won't notice prices continuing to climb?
Obviously that's exactly what he is worried about ; that we will notice, and that he won't be able to blame it on Biden from now on.
Obviously when it comes to the real effects of Trump's tariffs, the truth is not Trump's friend.....so now he's going full on Communist on the nation's largest retailer
He is now trying to tell Wal-Mart how much profit it should be allowed to make, saying they're rich enough already and the fat cats should tighten their belts and sacrifice for the common good of the proletariat and not pass their higher costs on to consumers.
WOW!
Maybe he's turning over a new leaf? Perhaps he's had some sort of transformative conversion. Lenin would be proud.
I'm sure Vlad Putin is too.....and let's not forget Bernie Sanders.
As Trump has jacked up import taxes, he has tried to assure a skeptical public that foreign producers would pay for those taxes and that retailers and automakers would absorb the additional expenses. Most economic analyses are deeply skeptical of those claims and have warned that the trade penalties would worsen inflation. Walmart warned on Thursday that everything from bananas to children’s car seats could increase in price.
Trump, in his Truth Social post, lashed out at the retailer, which employs 1.6 million people in the United States. He said the company, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, should sacrifice its profits for the sake of his economic agenda that he says will eventually lead to more domestic jobs in manufacturing.
President Donald Trump has ripped into Walmart, saying on social media that the retail giant should eat the additional costs created by his tariffs.
