This commercial is very puzzling to me. It depicts at the end, a young girl with her Mother in the hot tub. The Dad wants to join them and the daughter says "Think again, Bruce". Is this supposed to be funny? Is that how teenage girls like to be depicted as a snotty ungrateful daughter telling her Father to get lost? VRBO probably spent a million dollars designing this ad and the dialogue. I don't get it.

I’ve seen that ad.

And like so many ads these days, I cannot understand how any company or ad-man would imagine such a commercial furthers the interests of the product, service or company.

I saw an ad for a drug that is being heavily promoted, just yesterday, and wondered then, too, how it was supposed to be of any value to the manufacturer. It had a family of turtles (or maybe tortoises) in comic book form hawking the product. Who is that crap supposed to convince?

Exactly. Imagine the "brain storming" session for that commercial. "Hey I've got it! Let's depict a good Dad working hard for his family to have a nice weekend together and his snotty teen-age daughter tells him to get lost!"

Don't know what VRBO is but this is not new. Ever since the 80 s dad has been portrayed as a bumbling fool in many sitcoms. Family court has made it difficult to be dad for about as long. Pretty easy for wifey to do as she pleases and use custody to hold him hostage. Ya, don't think moms willing to do such things has not taught daughters? Most of our nations problems actually started in family court. Like over 80 percent of prisons are filled with people that had no dad at home. They call these fellows dead beat dads how ever most these guys wanted to be there for their kids but family court and trashy moms made it impossible. Ya wanna fix our nation it starts in family court.
