Lockhart Steele, Vox Media editorial director, fired over sexual misconduct allegations

Vox Media has fired Editorial Director Lockhart Steele after he admitted to misconduct, CEO Jim Bankoff told staff Thursday.

A memo to employees said Mr. Steele, former Curbed CEO and founder, “admitted engaging in conduct that is inconsistent with our core values” and was “terminated effective immediately,” The Awl first reported.

“Our investigation into issues raised by a former employee in a post on Medium continues,” Mr. Bankoff said. “Anyone with information should contact our external investigation leads.”

According to The Awl, the Medium post Mr. Bankoff was referring to was an Oct. 12 post by Eden Rohatensky, who reportedly worked at Vox Media as a web developer from June 2014 to August 2015.

In her post, Ms. Rohatensky alleged sexual misconduct by more than one employee, including a company VP, but did not name the company or her harassers.

Ms. Rohatensky later updated the post, saying the company she was working with at the time called her to follow up on the allegations.

Ms. Rohatensky joins a chorus of women who have come forward to allege sexual harassment and assault in the workplace since the rapid downfall of Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein...

People talk and talk, but their actions seldom match their words.

it does seem that the media in addition to Hollywood is a festering sewer full of people who talk about women's empowerment, in an effort to enslave them
