Virginia women protest "state mandated rape"

Freebees as in tax payer funded.

It is one thing if it truly saves a life, Quite another paying for irresponsibility.

what does that have to do with this thread, which is about women being forced to have an invasive and unnecessary medical procedure in order to terminate a pregnancy.

i'll wait.

The group was protesting bills that would cut off state aid to poor women seeking abortions

This mentality of freebees now has the US birth rate at 50% to single parents as just reported by the NY Times.

Can you see the big picture or not?

i think men have no problem paying for viagra. that's what i think.

the "mentality" is that the right is trying to obstruct the right to reproductive choice at any cost.

my feeling is perhaps men shouldn't be the ones making these decisions.

and my feeling is we shouldn't be changing the subject when the real issue is being mandated to have a vaginal probe by the state.

i find it more amusing that people who think having to buy health insurance is a violation of their "rights" are ok with this.

According the text of the bill they are reaquired to get an ultrasound. When my wife had her ultrasounds they just rubbed it on her tummy.

The antis are saying the bill requires a vaginal probe. From what I have seen in this thread on the text of the bill, that is not a requirement. Just that an ultrasound is done by someone who has a clue under the direction of a physician. I have no idea where the idea of a vaginal probe came from, as that is never how any ultrasound I am aware of is done. Ultrasound requires the sonar device be up against the skin and there is no way a vaginal probe would work.

My guess this is a bogus attack on a bill with the express desire of distracting from what the bill does require by suggesting something awful that it does not.

Further, anyone who has been around an obstetric exam knows that lots of things are put up there during the course of a normal exam (usually fingers, but sometimes camera probes) to check out the health of the vagina and uterus.

This seems to be just normal healthy practice. There is no such thing as a vaginal ultrasound probe that I am aware of and it is not mandated here.

WTF does viagra have to do with tax payer funded freebees.

Viagra is used for various other ailments dealing with small blood vessels. It was not originally a sex drug, nor is it primarily used for that. The fact it gets you hard for few hours was originally seen as an undesirable side effect.

People do get viagra for these other ailments and it does save lives. Which is why the Catholic church commends its use

So are birth control pills.

Some have stated that in the early stages of pregnancy, the tummy rub ultrasound won't work.

Here's an explanation I got in a quick google.

Early Ultrasound Results and Miscarriage - No Fetal Heartbeat or Empty Gestational Sac

In the first trimester, doctors usually use a transvaginal rather than abdominal ultrasound to gather information about the pregnancy. The transvaginal ultrasound provides the most accurate information in early pregnancy, given that the early developing gestational sac and fetal pole are extremely tiny at this point and a vaginal ultrasound can get closer to the developing pregnancy.

Long and the short of the foolishness here is that there is not mandate for a vaginal probe for ultrasound. There is just the requirement for an ultrasound, which is non invasive.

Now the process of dilation and Curettage is invasive and somewhat dangerous, so the attitude of the antis is somewhat weird. They object to a non invasive procedure prior to an invasive procedure they are promoting because the non invasive procedure is too invasive.

It looks to me like little more than sensible medical practice.

Can you provide a credible link to support your claim that Virginia legislation is not going to require a state-mandated vaginal probe (TVU) prior to abortion?

Why are Catholics okay with their health insurance covering Viagra but not contraceptives?

Which companies?

Mr Straw. I know there has to be a few.... None I am aware of though.

Are you suggesting that Catholic health insurance companies (including self-funded) do not provide Viagra coverage? In other words, do those companies that Catholics don't want to provide contraceptives also provide for such woody drugs as Viagra?
