Video: “Back to the Future,” starring … Eric Stoltz? Hot Air

What’s trippy about the clip is how it jibes so well with the movie’s theme of how radically different history might have been if just a few tiny things had gone differently. Zemeckis and Spielberg say they had to make the switch because Stoltz’s comic timing wasn’t quite right, but I think it’s probably more the case that they needed a bigger personality for the role.

Very interesting! "Back to the Future" is one of my all time favorite movies. I've seen it maybe 50 times and still love it! Like the article said, it's pitch perfect from the first scene to the last.

The sequels? Not so much.

Eric Stoltz was excellent in "The Mask" which was put out at the same time I think? So it was all for the best anyway.
