Family Loses Son In Iraq, Then Home To Fire
What an incredibly sad story:
Illinois residents are being urged to pitch in to help an Elmhurst family whose house burned down just five weeks after their son was killed in Iraq.
Army Pfc. Christopher Alcozer, a 2003 graduate of Willowbrook High School, was killed Nov. 19. His familys home burned down Dec. 27 when a candle next to a photo of Alcozer caught the picture on fire, according to a press release from the state lieutenant governors office.
Alcozers father, Jesse Alcozer, is a disabled veteran who served in the Vietnam War and was missing in action for a time and once thought dead, according to the press release. He has two other sons currently serving in the Army, as well as four younger children.
The family was renting the home and did not have renters insurance.
Donations can be made to the family at: Jesse Alcozer Family Fund, Community Bank of Elmhurst, 330 W. Butterfield Road, Elmhurst, IL 60126. For more information, see www.operationhomefront.org.
