Good old Machado, doing the things Dems in this country wish they had the balls to do. Nothing says free elections and classical liberal governance like arresting your opponents. Let's see how the lefties justify this latest strongman tactic by the Venezuelan socialist scumbags.

María Corina Machado, the driving force of Venezuela’s opposition movement, was arrested by government security forces Thursday as she left a rally in Caracas, a day before President Nicolás Maduro plans to take office for a third term.

The opposition campaign said Machado was “violently intercepted” by gunfire as she left the protest in Caracas on motorbike. Moments later, Maduro government authorities detained her.

Machado, Venezuela’s “iron lady” who led the opposition’s presidential campaign and its effort to provide evidence of a victory in the July 28 election, had emerged in public for the first time in months on the eve of Maduro’s inauguration to lead protesters in rejecting Maduro’s increasingly authoritarian rule. She stood over a sea of people in Caracas as they chanted: “We are not afraid!”

She had been in hiding for more than 100 days, avoiding an order for her arrest and speaking only virtually.
