She was ordered to take over by the Venezualan Supreme Court. No details given on who filed the lawsuit that led to that order.

CNN calls her an enforcer, going after the opposition since the days of Hugo Chavez.

She expresses outrage at the capture of Maduro, calling him the only president of Venezuala. He own security is beefed up.

She has been investigated by he U.S. for crimes.

"That is what Venezuela’s constitution outlines in its different scenarios anticipating a president’s absence. Under Articles 233 and 234, whether the absence is temporary or absolute, the vice president takes over the presidential duties".

That makes sense, but the CNN story specified that the Venezualan SC ordered her to take over.

Likely she asked them to order her, to make sure no one could accuse her of taking over prematurely. It's an unusual circumstance; normally the VP would take over after the death of a president, not the president's arrest.

Whether she is actually in charge of anything, probably depends on her moves.
I bet she will sleep....Fitfully. ;)
Yes, I don't see the military, the intelligence aparatus, the secret police and the Party leaders actually "following" a woman. She'll be the (relatively) pretty face of the brutal fascist government that Maduro led.

She will appeal strongly to the American left, particularly if she is wise enough to go on the View, or Morning Joe, or some Democrat Congressional panel. I'm sure that there are some Venzualan woke programs (until recently funded by USAID) that she can talk about, and Whoopie or Mischa would never be rude enough to mention the human rights violation by the Venezualan National Guard.

The next real dictator of Venzuala will likely want to wait it out, for a Democrat or "not Democrat" be the next U.S. president, so they can hold a special election, managed by Dominian, of course, then go back to enriching themselves while impoverishing Venezualans.

She's a hardliner who was Maduro's second in command. She has the backing of the military...for the moment.
She is about as right wing as it gets......

Since when did we start calling programs that saved lives across the globe (USAID) "woke"? (A term that only the right wing uses).

Some of the USAID programs may have actually saved lives. Too bad the left insisted on diverting life-saving aid to programs that are laughably woke. If they had not done that, or even done a little less of it, we might still have USAID today.

Clearly, children stopped reading stories like "The Golden Goose," when they started reading "Heather has two Mommies."

Oh no honey, you own ALL the woke. And everyone knows what it means, and now everyone is laughing at it (as they should have from the beginning)

So Trump finally did a good thing and manages to **** it up in less than 24 hours. What the hell was the point of this if the Chavistas are left in charge? Edmundo Gonzalez is the legitimately elected president of Venezuela. Why would we not turn the country over to him and Maria Corina Machado?

Again, only you righties use the term...and most of you can't define what it means. Typical of your constantly shifting attentions.
Like dogs chasing after car bumpers. :)

Because the legitimate leaders wouldn't be able to be paid off to allow Trump to guarantee the incentives to the oil companies to go to Venezuela and drill. It's expensive to drill and extract there.

The Chavistas actually give him better chance at corrupt people who can be paid off/bought to allow the type inflow of money it will require to make this boondoggle even halfway profitable.

One thing we should know by now is that Trump does everything half-assed. Unlike Operation Just Cause when GHW Bush deposed Noriega, Bush had a succession plan in place. Bush made clear the invasion was about law and order and human rights.

Trump on the other hand has nothing in place and not only that has made this military strike as a pretext to seize Venezuelan oil. Not a word about democracy or human rights.

In other words, Trump is giving the finger to the Venezuelan people. He just wants their resources.

If Trump doesn't like her and if she's not a Zionist ... her days are measured as well. If Trump doesn't care who the President of Venezuela is he doesn't care who sits on their Supreme Court either. He may let her stay as long as she doesn't hinder his plan to keep their oil and allow the CIA to run their drug operation.

How would that work that we "turn the country over" to Gonzalez or anyone else? We send our own army to take the place of the Venezualan Army and fight Maduro's National Guard? Or we just announce that Gonzalez is now president and wish him a successful transition? Will the strong Latina plan the inaugural ball for Gonzalez?

That's exactly the kind of Democrat/Neocon nonsense that led Americans to legitimately elect an outsider like Trump.

Trump acted on the official U.S. policy of arresting Maduro set forth by the Biden administration and reinforced with a $25M bounty added days before Trump took office.

Gonzalez in reality won with an estimated level of 75% support from the people. This isn't an Iraq situation. What if Delcy Rodriguez refuses to leave power? What if she orchestrates another fraud election?

Those are my questions to you, since you are implying that Trump has not done enough by arresting Maduro, in fulfillment of the previous administration's official policy. What do you want to Trump to do?

How should Trump force the government of Venezuala to honor the election results?

Or do you mean that he should have left Maduro on place?

This is a good time for the United Nations to step up and enforce Venezuala's honoring of the July 2024 election of Edmundo Gonzalez as President of Venezuala.

Baby blue helmet time!

May as well. Since we're rapidly heading towards Globalism we may as well let the Global Police earn their pay.
