Veganism is a thing

We know it's a thing, and it has to be stopped.

No! Some of that plant shit is yummy. But I don’t get it, what’s the point of eating foux meat? Why not just have a sausage?

Couple of reasons. Cancer for one. Diseases like botulism for a second. Fat content for a third. Grossly inefficient use of land for food production for a fourth. Frankensteining a freak race of cattle who could never survive on their own for a fifth. That's why I gave up meat back in the '70s.

Colon cancer and pancreatic is also much higher in Type A or B individuals... while much more rare in Type O people

Among the FTSE 250 gainers was Greggs, rising 11% as it saw a strong start to its financial year following the launch of its vegan sausage roll.

For the seven weeks to February 16, Greggs' sales increased 9.2% year-on-year. On a like-for-like basis, company-managed shop sales rose 9.6%.

This "exceptionally strong" start builds on what Greggs said was a good finish to 2018, and has been helped by "extensive" publicity around its vegan sausage roll, which was launched at the start of January.

This from a market report I got today. There was a big media blitz on the sausage roll and it actually looks like vegans have some market influence. 9% is awesome.

I would think if anything is true, whatever people decide to eat..... the way it is prepared and the quality of the food has much to do with the healthfulness to our bodies. Obviously eating fried hamburgers every day, well done.... destroying the amino acid chains in the protien and creating free radicals..... on top of fried cooking oil would probably be a recipe for cancer in a few years... but there are many more healthful ways of eating meat and in moderation if necessary.... if one looks into it.

That's only one product the company manufactures. They don't specialize in vegan snacks, as most of their products have meat in them.

The problem with so-called "vegan" foods being sold in the store, is that the manufacturer's usually put a whole lot of crap in them to keep them from spoiling.

My sister is vegan. She wouldn’t eat that. But yeah, all the vegan stuff I have had was made fresh on the spot, and not often cooked. I really like eating that during the summer when it’s HOT! There are these little burrito things where the wrap is lettuce and they are filled with some type of grain and spicy stuff. They are served cold and they are awesome.

We call those "egg rolls."

Mmm... I love a good egg roll. :)

There's certain amino acids you get in meat you just cant get from vegetables alone. While veganism might be really good for some people, its not good for everyone. It would be a mistake to put someone who needs meat on an all vegetable diet. All our bodies are different and perhaps people need to find out individually what is good for them and what is not.

There's no one who "needs" meat. We evolved from eating fruits and nuts and greens, not "meat". "Meat" is an elective, like ice cream --- there's no one who "needs" ice cream.

You dont know that. You don't know how are ancestors evolved to believe something like that. If we purely evolved eating fruits nuts and greens, we would have a digestive system like a cow. The original human blood type was very close to type O and O was the first modern blood type which you find predominately in Africans and Native Americans. Human blood type started changing as they traveled the earth eating different things like Rice... which is why most asians are going to be mostly a variation of type A and B. Type O people handle meat better and often have a much different type of metabolism, and are very efficient in storing blood sugar as a hunter would need..... say if they had to travel for days without getting a kill and still needing to be able to function.
Perhaps you see this in Native Americans and African Americans when they switch over to a white man white bread diet... their wheight typically explodes if they are not exercizing...having all that excess un-needed sugar in their system.

The Vegan Brain

Modern Frankenwheat is a whole 'nother issue. I cut that shit out too. Makes you fat. Not because it's wheat; because it's Frankenwheat. Same concern applies to cattle. As a poster above noted, the other option is to choose not to think about it.

Man you have to. Check theisnshit out, I haven’t had a hotdog since the 7th grade. Like 87 or 88. Why? It was when I got pissed at my brother for reading the ingredients out loud. I will not eat any “meat substance” period. I would rather flip rocks and eat bugs.

I know right. I read ingredients on literally everything. I have had hot dogs of recent vintage but they're always poultry-based and nitrite-free.

/—-/ I don’t get it. If you want to eat vegetables fine, but what is the point of masquerading as something else? You just set the expectations very high. Living in NY we get our pork sausage at the Italian butcher who makes it from scratch. Nothing else can compare.

Can’t do it. I can not bring my self to eat meat that’s not whole meat. I go to Bay Area meat market or Druits in Santa Fe for ground beef, and if I can afford it, steaks, bacon and brisket.

Lads, this is the stock market forum not the food hang up forum.

How can we make vegans useful by making money off them ?

yeah, you mean the way they have genetically engineered wheat? It's also the way its harvested and processed as well. It's sort of a two edged sword... on the one hand many more people can be fed with the stuff, but on the other hand the nutritional value is greatly diminished. I know that Sicily is one of the last places on earth where they still have the old strains of wheat and they actually use the old milling processes and make bread the same day its milled. Ive never been there but a good friend of mine went with a cooking group, said it really opens your eyes as to what we have here.

Unfortunately its just commercially impossible to process wheat the way it really should be done. It should be wet milled as back in the day because wet milling eliminates the acid content from the wheat. If you take a look at some of the few societies left where they still do wet milling of grains... they dont get arthritis like we do.. good teeth and bone structure.

How utterly disgusting that sounds. Yet another step in the pussification of the British male. What they need is some good old bloody red meat, not some vegan "sausage" rolls.

Hell, you can't even say the word "sausage" unless there's meat involved.
Salchichon is a better word.

This is an incredibly misguided, false idea, that eating is meat is "manly."

Btw, that's actually one of the video projects I have in the works. I'm working on another one right now, but one busting that silly myth will be coming up, for sure.

For now, suffice it to say, real men protect and defend the weak, innocent and vulnerable. And real men are secure enough to go against the crowd at times, even if it's something that will get them criticized. Cowards do the opposite.

Anybody can buy it and eat it, so it doesn't mean only strict vegans are the ones who buy it.

Raw vegan? Yeah, that's pretty harsh. I think I tried something once, I didn't totally hate it but I don't think I'd be into eating something like that every day.

I haven't had that burrito thing though.

So how much does the piglet weigh now and how much would ya take for it?
Asking for a friend.....
