I believe we will eventually have sufficient technology for recycling ALL discarded materials and reusing or repurposing it. That is the best possible goal and would ensure we don't run out of anything that we need.

We have enough fossil fuels for our needs for at least another 100 years and probably much longer. By the time it does start to run out some brilliant and resourceful person or people will have developed something better to replace it.

We do not need to take trillions and trillions in resources from the people to accomplish that any more than we needed to do that to transition from horse and buggy/wagon to trains, automobiles, busses, airplanes.

"Clean energy" will no doubt indeed be a part of our future, but only if we allow it to happen naturally in a free market so that it is effective, efficient, affordable and attractive to people who will utilize and pay for it.
